Rates and rebates

Bulk billed services

Big Sky Psychology is registered to provide phone and video bulk billing sessions via ATAPS (Access to Allied Psychological Services). These bulk billed sessions are available to First Nations people, as well as other people under financial strain. Contact us for more information.

Our rates

We keep our rates below those recommended by the Australian Psychological Society.

If you’re a full-time student, a pensioner, or a health care/basics card holder, we may be able to offer you a discounted rate. You can call or email us for further details.

We ask that you pay at the end of each of your appointments by debit or credit card (Mastercard, Visa, AMEX). There is a surcharge for credit card payments.

Medicare

You can get a medicare rebate for 20 sessions per calendar year with a clinical psychologist. This means that Medicare will pay $128.50 towards the cost of each of those sessions.

To receive the rebate, you need to book a long consultation with your GP and obtain a referral letter and a Mental Health Care Plan. If you see a psychiatrist, you can ask them for a referral letter too. Please send the referral and your Mental Health Care Plan to us before your first appointment.

Private health fund rebates

Many private health funds issue rebates for tele-psychology (a psychology session over the phone or by video call). The rebate available from each health fund varies. Some health funds require clients to have exhausted the Medicare sessions before health fund rebates apply. Please check with your private health fund provider for details.

NDIS

Big Sky Psychology is registered under the NDIS to provide therapeutic support.

ADF

We can provide counselling under the Australian Defence Force’s counselling service, BUPA.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel or postpone an appointment, please give Big Sky Psychology at least 24 hours notice, otherwise you may be charged a 50% cancellation fee.
